Now on to the interview with Iuliana Foos...
Question 1: Tell us more about your new release, Bloodline Origins.
Bloodline Origins is book one in the ‘Bloodline’ trilogy. A vampire family saga begins and so do their trials and intricate lives throughout centuries. It is a tale of survival and love threaded with ambitions and destinies, only to come together and define their long and meaningful lives.
Question 2: For readers who are either new to your work or have yet to try it, why should they read Bloodline Origins?
This is not your average vampire novel. Their kind had been written over and over again as undead, or cursed, blood-sucking thirsty monsters. My vampires, are of alien descent, and have supernatural powers. About two thousand years ago, an alien species came to Earth in search of a new home. They have created the first vampires as an experiment. Throughout time, they adapted so well to the human world, that they live amongst us. Like in every species, every society, there are good ones and bad ones.
Question 3: Who is your favorite character in Bloodline Origins and why?
I love all of them, even the bad guys, or better said, especially the bad guys. Still, the main character, Ana, has most of myself in her. She is my favorite, with just the right amount of sass that defines her. She will voice her opinions, but also know when she is overpowered by enraged vampires.
Question 4: What were some of the inspirations you drew from when you were putting Bloodline Origins together?
I have first thought about writing ‘Bloodline’ many years ago, when I was a teenager. I was still back home, in Romania and took a weekend trip to visit Dracula’s Castle. The dark and dingy rooms and corridors made wonder for the first time how would the world be if vampires were real. Built many centuries ago, with no electricity or indoor plumbing, the cold, stone construction came alive in my mind. Characters started to take shape, and they shared space in my mind for over three decades.
Question 5: Where do you see the story in Bloodline Origins going?
I really want to change the opinion most have about vampires. I hope that by the end of the book three, everyone would hope their next door neighbor is, secretly, a vampire.
Final Question: If you could travel to anywhere in world, where would it be and why?
Just like my heroine, Ana, I love the ocean. The never-ending motion of water helps me think and relax at the same time. You would definitely find me on a white sanded beach, in the shade of a palm tree, most probably writing my next novel. Drink would be optional, since I need both my hands to type.
