Synopsis

Cade Bowman lost his humanity to a fire elemental intent on revenge. Trapped as his wolf, his pack gone, he paces his cage day and night, powerless against his tormentor's charms. When a mistake gives him the chance to flee, he has one hope of escaping her. Hide out in a car headed off Orcas Island.

Visiting her favorite beach for one last swim, Mara Taylor knows she'll die soon. The mysterious blood disorder ending her life resists treatment, and she's tired of fighting. But when she discovers an injured, emaciated wolf in her car, she finds something to live for. This animal needs her, and she'll nurse him back to health before the end.

When the two start to heal each other, Cade realizes that Mara isn't just the key to freeing him from the fire elemental's charms. She's his.

Can Mara free Cade from his wolf and save her own life in the process? And if she does, can they survive when they learn the identity of the fire elemental hunting them both?

The Review

Cade Bowman is the Alpha wolf who never knew about a fire elemental witch who could trap him in his wolf forever. He is captured, caged, starved and his humanity is slipping away as he is constantly being tortured by the elemental witch. Until he finally gets the chance and escapes his captors. Mara Taylor thinks she is dying so she decides to visit her favorite beach for one last swim. When she arrives home and sees the dying wolf stowed away in her car, she finds a reason to live just a little longer.

I really enjoyed reading this story. This book has everything a reader could possibly want to enjoy when reading this type of story. I haven’t made it a secret that I’m a big fan of Paranormal Romance, As a matter of fact, I can't read enough of this genre as it's one of my favorites.

When I received A Shift in the Water to review, I was excited to read it. Though this is my first time reading a book by Patricia D. Eddy, it allowed me to indulge in my love of reading.

First the story is paced just right. It starts with a mystery about elemental witches and wolf shifters. It’s a charming, engaging, and fantastic story. A Shift in the Water focuses on the main characters, Cade Bowman and Mara Taylor but it also includes secondary characters which helps with the background and the plot. The hero is allowed to show his weaknesses as well as strengths which is how Ms Eddy made the character more endearing and heroic.

As for the heroine, the author gave her character strength despite learning from her doctor early in the story that she was dying. She continued to show her independence and fortitude to accept death and continue living.

Cade and Mara relationship along with their steamy hot chemistry makes this a fabulous story. It's so entertaining and captivating to read. The romance in the story isn’t rushed and its punctuated by danger before they find their Happy Ever After.

When you finish this story you will want to read the next story in the series. Patrica D Eddy is a talented, very gifted author that I highly recommend. A Shift in The Water is well developed and it had me on the edge of my seat throughout the story! The story is a fantastic read and will keep you turning page-after-page until you are done.

If you are like myself, you won’t want to stop reading it.
