Ellie West has always known there was more to her story than being abandoned at birth. A child of the foster-care system, she didn’t get many breaks, but the one thing she can do is sing. It’s her only ticket out of poverty and obscurity. Nothing else matters, not even the nagging sense that she’s different. She's headed for great things. She only needs a chance.

Jack Ferris couldn’t agree more. His firm, the elite paranormal agency Redclaw Security, has been hired to find a missing princess and return her to her family. Discovering that Ellie, a waitress in a hole-in-the-wall diner, is both the princess and his fated mate is like being hit with a sledgehammer. Ellie West can't be his mate. She's the mission.

The sooner Jack completes this job, the better, only Ellie has no intention of throwing her dreams away for a kingdom she's never known. With hired assassins on their trail, Ellie might not have a choice. They must do whatever it takes to stay alive.

The Review

Her life is about to change. Only she has no idea how much.

Ellie has been working hard all her life. As an ordinary waitress with not-so-ideal figure, her self-confidence is low, and her life a mere monotone existence. But supported by her friends at the diner where she works, Ellie is all in for a change in her life – first, her appearance, then going to a singing competition, and finally going on a date. Despite her rule not to date her customers, everything changes when it comes to Jack, a charming man with the bad boy aura. Ellie feels she is finally set on the right course for change – and change she gets, indeed. And a drastic one, in that matter.
Having your life changed overnight is a stressful experience, especially when it brings constant danger and deep emotional turmoil. What Ellie has gone through would definitely shake weaker natures, but strong as she is, she copes with the obstacles with ferocity and grace own to her inner self. Coming to a realization who she is and finding peace with her nature, we enjoy a turbulent journey from ugly duck to beautiful, capable, independent woman.

Ellie is a strong and admirable heroine, but Jack is her equal. Protective and with strong sense of honor, he always tries his best despite being torn in half by his inner conflict. His life wasn´t easy either, and the comfort Ellie´s presence offers is a dragon song to him – irresistible and tempting.

Set into the untamed, wild beauty of shifters world, with strong lead characters, many surprising twists, and constant threat on the protagonists´ life, this book is a pleasurable reading experience and I would definitely recommend it to all shifter fans.
